Rise
Finding steady work is hard, and practice builds confidence. Developed with UCLA and the University of Michigan, this online course helps clients reach independence through successful employment.
About This Project
RISE stands for Reaching Independence Through Successful Employment, and the course is built for clients who need confidence as much as skills. With the collaboration of UCLA and the University of Michigan, we developed an online software course with a social network aspect, so clients can communicate with one another, and with video recording from a computer or phone, so they can record themselves on video.
Planning a project like this?
An online course platform is a small software product. Lessons run in a sequence, every learner has an account and the system remembers where each person stopped.
Courses that ask learners to practice a skill add tools for exchange, such as a discussion area where participants write to one another and recording that lets a person capture a short video through a computer or phone camera. When learners film themselves, privacy deserves care at every step, with private viewing for each learner and plain words about how recordings are kept.
The interface stays quiet and legible, since the lesson is what the participant came for.
How our team builds it
Our software development team builds course platforms in milestones. A requirements workshop with the people who run the course comes first, and each milestone ends in something you can try for yourself before the next milestone begins. Our UX and UI design team maps personas and task flows for the learners, then wireframes every screen for you to sign off.
