From Script to Screen

Many people prefer video to other kinds of content, especially when it is informative and entertaining. If you think your product is too ordinary to explain, consider the buyers who have a problem you solve and would benefit from watching you solve it.

If your product is simple to use, a short, entertaining video still raises sales and brand awareness by making the benefit memorable. Our Los Angeles explainer team writes the script, designs the visuals, whether animated or live action, and edits a film that showcases your product in the best way.

We plan the cut for the pages and channels where it will run, so one production serves your home page, sales emails and social posts.

Scripts are written first and approved before visuals begin, and you review a rough cut before the final film, so every change is made while it is quick to make.

Animation or live action

Choose by what your buyer needs to see. If it's software, a data flow or a process that happens out of sight, an animated explainer video can show what no camera can film. If it's a physical product, your people or a service where trust comes from seeing the real thing, live action does the convincing. The two can also be mixed in one film.

We recommend one after we hear your goals, because the choice should follow your message and your budget, not a house style.

Script, storyboard, voice and edit

The cheapest place to change an explainer is the script, and the most expensive is the finished film. So the explainer video script comes first, and every word is settled before anyone draws a frame.

A storyboard then maps each scene, which lets you picture the film before it is made. Voice-over, music and the edit follow, each one built on the finished script. We handle the planning before the shoot, so filming is easy on your side.

Where the finished video goes

One explainer can work in many places: at the top of your home page, on a landing page, in a sales email and in social posts, helping visitors understand your offer quickly and act on it.

The script comes from our scriptwriting team. When you want paid reach, the film can be placed through online video ads. Explainers are one of the formats in our videography services, alongside product videos and company video tours, so one production team can carry your story across all of them.

Cutting one explainer for every screen

An explainer earns its cost when it works everywhere it is shown: the website, a sales call and a feed. We plan the script so the first ten seconds carry the idea alone, then cut a vertical 9:16 version, a square version and the full 16:9 film from the same material. Captions are part of every cut, so the film works with the sound off, and each version is checked on a phone before delivery.

AI tools speed up rough cuts and scratch voice tracks, a person makes every final edit, and we always tell you where AI was used. YouTube Shorts run to three minutes, so a vertical cut can carry a complete explainer to viewers who live in their feeds.

Those vertical versions come from our short-form video production team, cut from the same footage as the main film.

On YouTube, an explainer becomes a lasting part of your channel, and YouTube channels, Shorts and ads covers its publishing, search and paid placements.

Explainer Videos Questions & Answers

Animation or live action?

Animation suits abstract products and software; live action suits physical products and the people behind them.

How long should an explainer video be?

Long enough to make one point well. We plan the length from the script and the placement, and deliver shorter cuts for social channels.

Can you produce in other languages?

Yes. A version with a translated script and voice-over can be added, planned and priced along with the rest of the project.

Who writes the script?

We write it. Scriptwriting is part of the production. You approve the script before production begins and review a rough cut before the final film. What we need from you is the audience and the one thing you want viewers to do when the film ends, because the script is built backwards from that action.

Can I update the video later?

Yes, and animation makes it easy. The script, voice-over, graphics and music are separate layers, so a new price or a fresh voice-over line is an edit to one layer rather than a new film. Live action updates as readily in the edit and the voice-over, and new footage is a short shoot with the crew that made the original.
