What a Product Video Shows Shoppers

Plenty of shoppers would rather watch a short video than read a long product description, and a product video gives them that choice. A product video shows what the item does and how it feels to use it, which answers the questions that stop a purchase.

Unlike an explainer video, which sets up a problem and a story, a product video concentrates on benefits and features and on the product in action. We plan the shots that prove each claim: the demonstration, the close-up, the comparison and the setting where it matters.

The finished film works on your product pages, in marketplace listings, in ads and in email.

Long and short cuts are both useful. A short loop suits a category page, while a longer film with a full demonstration belongs on the product page.

A shot list built from the claims you make

Close-up of hands adjusting a plain smooth product on a turntable under a softbox.

Every claim on your product page deserves a shot that proves it. A waterproof case goes under water, a lightweight pack is lifted with one finger, and a tool does the job it was bought for.

The shot list starts from those claims, one shot for each, then adds close-ups for build quality and a scale shot, so viewers know how big the product is before it arrives.

A camera operator films a small product on a lit table, a light panel at one side.

Lengths, placements and the rest of the set

Marketplaces set their own limits on length and format, and those limits shape the shoot before the camera is unpacked. One session can produce the long film, the short cuts and the stills, which keeps the look consistent across your store, your Amazon listing and your ads.

The shot list comes out of scriptwriting and pre-production, and you approve it before filming, then review a rough cut before the final. When the product needs a problem-and-solution story rather than a demonstration, that longer film belongs in an explainer video.

Controlled set or on location

A product turns on a small turntable under soft light while a crew member steadies it.

Where a product is filmed follows its size and where it lives. Small products show best on a controlled set, with chosen light and a clean background, so every surface and edge reads clearly.

Large equipment, installed products and anything tied to a particular setting are filmed where they live by our on-site team, and we arrange filming anywhere the product needs to be seen. Stills from the same session can follow through product photography, and the films come from our videography services crew.

Product films for the feed and the product page

A product video has two jobs. On the product page it answers what the item does and how it fits into a day; in a feed it has to win a stop in the first seconds.

One session can serve both: macro detail for the page, a vertical hook for Reels and Shorts, and a square cut for listings and email. Captions are built into the picture, so the film works for a shopper scrolling with the sound off.

AI-assisted editing handles rough cuts and clean-up, and the finished film is an editor's work, checked by our team before you see it, and we flag any use of AI in the edit to you.

When a product performs on the feed, it can carry a steady run of vertical posts. Reels and Shorts production covers the hooks, captions and lengths those posts need, cut from the footage of one session.

Product Videos Questions & Answers

What is the difference between a product video and an explainer video?

An explainer tells a story about a problem and its solution. A product video lets the product speak for itself, showing its features, its benefits and the way it works in use.

Can the same shoot produce photos?

Yes. Video and product photography can share one session, which saves a second setup and gives your store one consistent look from photo to film.

Do you need the physical product?

We film the real product wherever it is, because the film shows the real thing. Products too large to move are filmed where they stand, since all of our videography services are available on-site.

What should I send before the shoot?

The product, a list of the claims on your product page and a note on where the video will run, such as your store, a marketplace or ads. Those three things shape the shot list.

Can you film a product that is not finished yet?

Yes, and we film prototypes at their best. The shots focus on what the prototype does well today, so it makes a strong impression on camera.
