Seiba
Handmade goods sell when shoppers see the story and the hands behind them. We built Seiba's store so Chamula village artisans can share and sell their crafts to the world.
About This Project
Seiba supports the Chamula village, an indigenous community, by helping its artisans create crafts to share and sell to the world. A mission built on stories needs a storefront that tells them, so we designed and developed an e-commerce site with handmade, socially responsible accessories, from pet collars to belts, bracelets and headbands, a page on the weave developed by Maya women, and a currency selector for buyers abroad.
A global buyer needs to trust the origin before paying for it. A Mission page sets out the aim of preserving sacred cultures by keeping their traditions alive, an artisans page puts faces to the work, and the first product line uses a weave developed by Maya women of the Chiapas highlands in Mexico. A cart, checkout and currency selector make buying from abroad straightforward.
