3D, AR and WebGL Experiences

Vivid Concept builds 3D product viewers, AR placement links and WebGL and WebGPU scenes that load fast, fall back to clean images on any device and match your brand.

When 3D earns its place

A rotating model answers questions a photograph cannot: how big the product is, how a hinge moves, how the finish catches light from another angle. Vivid Concept builds interactive 3D for product pages, configurators, exhibitions and brand sites. Our product design and 3D rendering team makes the model, and the web puts it in your buyers' hands.

We recommend 3D where the product is dimensional, configurable or valuable enough that buyers want to inspect it, and a photograph wherever a photograph does the job better.

Showing a product in the buyer's own space is work we have done before. For Richard Franklin Photography, visitors can view any of his photographs in 18 different rooms, or upload a photo of their own room and place the artwork in it. Our own website features an interactive 3D scene that responds to the pointer and to scrolling.

Every model reaches the page in four steps. It is prepared from your CAD files, a scan or a sculpt and reduced to a web-ready size, and its materials and lighting are matched to your product photography. Then the viewer is built into the page, and the result is tested on real phones and laptops, where buyers will actually use it.

Viewers, AR links and video turntables

For most products the right choice is a model viewer: a glTF or GLB file in the page that buyers drag to rotate and tap to see variants, with a poster image that appears instantly.

Augmented reality adds a button that places the product in the buyer's room. On iPhone and iPad it opens AR Quick Look, which displays USDZ files on iOS 12, iPadOS 12 and later and on Apple Vision Pro; on Android it opens Scene Viewer, which reads glTF or GLB on ARCore-supported devices. We export both formats from one model and link them to one button.

Where interaction adds little, a rendered turntable video is lighter, and our product video production team can make it. Stills from product photos appear alongside the 3D view, so buyers can switch between them.

A person holds up a phone in a living room and sees an abstract 3D chair placed on the floor, delighted.

Performance budgets and fallbacks

The page should feel as quick with 3D as without it. Every scene has a budget: file size, triangle count, texture size and the point at which it loads.

We build every model to the size budgets Google's Scene Viewer guidance recommends, keeping the geometry, the textures and the file small enough to load quickly on a phone.

Models are compressed, textures are encoded for GPU use, and the viewer loads only as it nears the screen. The first thing a visitor sees comes from HTML and a poster image, and our page speed optimization checks confirm the page keeps its pace.

Heavier scenes use WebGPU, now supported across Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari according to web.dev in November 2025, with platform coverage still expanding. Browsers without it get a WebGL version, and devices that run neither get a still image.

Accessibility, brand and where 3D lives

A developer tests a 3D viewer on an older laptop and a phone side by side, checking the speed.

Every viewer has a text equivalent: descriptive alt text, keyboard controls for rotate and zoom, visible focus and a pause for any auto-rotation. Scenes honor the reduced-motion setting and never trap scrolling, so the experience works for every visitor.

Materials and lighting kept in design systems and component libraries hold the brand steady from one model to the next, with our branding work setting the look. Package design files are reused for labels and boxes, so the box on screen matches the one that arrives.

The viewer goes to work inside custom websites or e-commerce stores that take orders. Concept art from AI-assisted creative production can start a model, with final geometry built or scanned from the real product, and our design services in Los Angeles cover everything around it.

3D and AR Experiences Questions & Answers

Does 3D slow the page?

Not when it is budgeted. The viewer loads after the page content, models are compressed and a poster image shows first. We measure Largest Contentful Paint and Interaction to Next Paint before and after adding 3D, and trim the assets until the page keeps its scores.

Which phones open AR links?

iPhone and iPad on iOS 12 or iPadOS 12 and later open AR Quick Look with a USDZ file. Android phones that support ARCore open Scene Viewer with a glTF or GLB file. Every other device shows the interactive 3D view or a still image.

Can you model from our CAD files?

Yes. We import STEP and similar CAD formats, simplify the geometry for the web, apply real materials and export glTF, GLB and USDZ. No CAD? We model from photographs, measurements or a scan of the physical product.

What fallback shows on older devices?

A WebGL viewer stands in where WebGPU is missing, and a static poster image or turntable video replaces the viewer when neither runs. The buy button, specifications and photographs work in every case, so every visitor can still buy.

How is 3D made accessible?

Each model has a text description, keyboard rotate and zoom, a visible focus ring and a pause control for motion. Every product fact also appears as plain text on the page, and reduced-motion settings stop auto-rotation.
