We keep Magento stores on a supported, secure release, and that depends on the right edition. Magento comes as the free Magento Open Source code base and as a paid commercial edition built on the same code, which Adobe now sells as Adobe Commerce.
Each release line has its own end-of-support date, and we track every one for you, planning each upgrade well before support ends so your store keeps receiving security fixes. The commercial edition can also carry extended support from Adobe.
Upgrading in place is one road forward, and there are two others. Headless e-commerce builds keep Magento for catalog and orders while a Next.js storefront replaces the theme, and building on Shopify moves the whole store, products, buyer accounts and orders included, to a hosted platform. For stores staying on Magento, the plan covers four points.
- Open Source or the commercial edition, chosen from your catalog, integrations and support needs.
- The current supported release line, and whatever stands between your store and it.
- An upgrade path from an older 2.4 store, testing extensions, theme and custom modules in order.
- A patch routine, because security fixes arrive between releases.
